Serving communities throughout Southern California.
This amazing non-profit adopts dogs from local shelters in Southern California and trains them to be service dogs for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or other psychological injuries associated with traumatic service experiences. The suicide rate among our nation's military personnel has eclipsed the number of troops dying in battle and the lasting effects of these psychological injuries is debilitating.
Many shelter dogs are overlooked for adoption due to behavior issues, and often those dogs are euthanized. The Shelter to Soldier organization has a team of professional dog trainers that are experts in behavior modification and are able to train these dogs to become elite service dogs. These dogs are then gifted to veterans in need and play a critical role of psychological support.
